Bernardo and Homolka had a pattern of abducting and assaulting young women. On that day, they spotted Kristen French walking home from school. Paul Bernardo approached her, pretending to be lost and in need of directions. He forced her into their vehicle at knifepoint.

Kristen French was taken to the couple’s residence, where she was held captive for several days. During this time, she was subjected to repeated sexual assaults and brutal physical abuse. The couple videotaped some of the assaults, documenting their sadistic acts.

Ultimately, on April 30, 1992, Bernardo and Homolka murdered Kristen French. Her body was found in a ditch in a rural area of Burlington, Ontario, a few weeks later. The discovery of Kristen’s body, along with the earlier murder of Leslie Mahaffy, led to the arrest and subsequent exposure of Bernardo and Homolka as the perpetrators of these heinous crimes.

The case of Kristen French, along with Leslie Mahaffy and the other victims, profoundly impacted the Canadian public and played a significant role in the subsequent legal proceedings against Bernardo and Homolka.
