Canadian serial rapist and serial killer Paul Bernardo is currently serving a life sentence with no possibility of parole for 25 years.

After a decade at Millhaven Institution, Bernardo was transferred in 2023 to La Macaza Institution, a medium-security facility in Quebec, where he will serve his indefinite sentence.
The transfer sparked debate, and the reason for the transfer was not made public. The decision will be reviewed by the federal prison service.
