American stage actor, Michael Lamont was not survived by any children. However, he was married to film and stage director, Kay Cole for 35 years.

Born on April 3, 1947, Michael Lamont started his career when he was just 13 years old. His debut Broadway appearance was in Bye Bye Birdie in 1960.  This was after he moved from New York to L.A to join the rock band Group Therapy.

He performed in 11 Broadway productions during the early stages of his career. Some of them include Oliver! Do I Hear a Waltz?, and The Royal Hunt of the Sun. Before that, he had studied with acting teacher Sanford Meisner when he was 18 years old.

Aside from acting, he developed a love for photography after a friend asked him to photograph his headshots. After a few works, he got recommendations and gigs from agents and casting directors, and in the ’70s, became one of the most sought-after photographers in the industry.

Lamont was into theatre productions and in 1989, was sponsored by Universal Studios to join the International Cinematographers Guild. He contributed largely to numerous productions and institutions such as The Geffen Playhouse, The Old Globe, Pasadena Playhouse, McCoy Rigby Entertainment, Deaf West Theatre, Colony Theatre, East West Players, NoHo Arts Center, Reprise, Getty Villa, Shakespeare Festival/L.A, and the Gay Men’s Chorus of Los Angeles.

In the end, it is always about the specific emotional life, natural behavior, working moment to moment and being well lit, combining these elements with the artistry and experience of the photographer to create and capture the moment,” Lamont once shared.
