He ‘mistakenly’ went into full-time photography after a friend asked him to photograph his headshots. After a few works, he got recommendations and gigs from agents and casting directors, and in the ’70s, became one of the most sought-after photographers in the industry.

Lamont ventured into full-time theatre productions and in 1989, was sponsored by Universal Studios to join the International Cinematographers Guild. He contributed largely to numerous productions and institutions such as The Geffen Playhouse, The Old Globe, Pasadena Playhouse, McCoy Rigby Entertainment, Deaf West Theatre, Colony Theatre, East West Players, NoHo Arts Center, Reprise, Getty Villa, Shakespeare Festival/L.A, and the Gay Men’s Chorus of Los Angeles.
