American Broadway actor turned-photographer, Michael Lamont has been reported dead by a publicist. According to them, the actor died on Sunday, May 21, 2023, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. He was 76.

Lamont was only 13 years when he appeared in his first Broadway performance dubbed Bye Bye Birdie n 1960. He performed in 11 Broadway productions during the early stages of his career. Some of them include Oliver! Do I Hear a Waltz?, and The Royal Hunt of the Sun.

He ‘mistakenly’ went into full-time photography after a friend asked him to photograph his headshots. After a few works, he got recommendations and gigs from agents and casting directors, and in the ’70s, became one of the most sought-after photographers in the industry.
Lamont ventured into full-time theatre productions and in 1989, was sponsored by Universal Studios to join the International Cinematographers Guild. He contributed largely to numerous productions and institutions such as The Geffen Playhouse, The Old Globe, Pasadena Playhouse, McCoy Rigby Entertainment, Deaf West Theatre, Colony Theatre, East West Players, NoHo Arts Center, Reprise, Getty Villa, Shakespeare Festival/L.A, and the Gay Men’s Chorus of Los Angeles.
