Popular Broadway actor, George Riddle has been reported dead by his longtime friend Christie Wagner. His death occurred on Friday, June 2, 2023, after a prolonged battle with duodenal cancer. He was 86.

Tributes have been pouring in on social media after his death was announced.
“RIP George Riddle who played Walter in S6 E15 ‘Remember When.’ Us fans will always recognize EVERY contribution to this great show, no matter how big or small,” The Soprano Club shared.

“Farewell to George Riddle, actor, comedian, circus artist, in Broadway musicals, and theater,” Fausto Fernandez also wrote.
Riddle logged more than 5,000 performances as The Old Actor in The Fantasticks, the longest-running Off-Broadway play, starting with the musical’s debut at The Sullivan Street Playhouse in Greenwich Village in 1960.
He was best known on The Onion News Network, where he gained a good number of fans with his turn as the irascible, wildly opinionated Cressbeckler, whose predictions and political analysis were peppered with malapropisms and non sequiturs.
