Padma Lakshmi announced on Friday, June 2, 2023, that she was leaving the Bravo reality competition juggernaut, Top Chef, which she has hosted for 19 of the show’s 20 seasons, calling it a difficult decision made after much soul-searching.

She said, “I feel it’s time to move on and need to make space for Taste the Nation, my books and other creative pursuits. I am deeply thankful to all of you for so many years of love and support”.

The show has been nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Reality-Competition Program from season 2 through season 19, with season 6 winning the award in 2010.
Lakshmi also serves as an executive producer of the show. She was nominated for the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Host for a Reality or Reality-Competition Program in 2009 and 2020 through 2022 for Top Chef. In 2020, Lakshmi won three Critic’s Choice Awards for Top Chef.
