However, they broke up in 2011 without any bad blood. According to the co-founder, Shears, the group got separated because they felt their purpose as a team had been fulfilled, therefore, there was no need to be together strongly again.

I felt we had kinda done what we set out to do. We did 10 solid years of recording and touring. And I just felt like it was time for everybody to go live their lives. The bad was our lives for a long time. But there could be another Scissors record again someday. I’ll never rule that out,” he said.

The group was founded as a performance art stunt, playing outrageous shows in clubs like Luxx, the heart of the electroclash scene in Williamsburg Brooklyn. It found massive success in the United Kingdom and Ireland in 2004 and ended the year with the biggest-selling album (Scissors Sisters) of that year in the UK. Shears used to be a go-go dancer and an exotic dancer.

They are known for several songs including I Can’t Decide, I Don’t Feel Like Dancing, Laura, Filthy/Gorgeous, Return to Oz, Any Which Way, Tits on Radio, Take Your Mama, Let’s Have a Kiki, Only the Horses, She’s My Man, Fire With Fire, and more.
