Freida Sellards is the mother of American singer and songwriter, Jake Shears. The singer grew up with an entrepreneur father and a Baptist mother on San Juan Island, Washington.

There is very little information about them but it is believed that both parents are over 60 years old.
Born on October 3, 1978, Jake Shears worked as a music reviewer for Paper Magazine in 2000. He, along with Scott Hoffman formed Scissors Sisters in 2001 as a performance art stunt, playing outrageous shows in clubs like Luxx, the heart of the electroclash scene in Williamsburg Brooklyn.

In 2004, the group found heavy success in the United Kingdom and Ireland and ended the year with the biggest-selling album of that year in the UK. Shears used to be a go-go dancer and an exotic dancer.

Shears often shared that he was influenced by several musicians including The Bee Gees, Leo Sayer, ABBA, Blondie, David Bowie, Duran Duran, Roxy Music, Cher, Dolly Parton, and more.
He has collaborated with several singers and rappers over the years. Some of them are Andy Bell, Tiga, Luomo, Calvin Harris, and more.
Shears released his debut song as a solo artist in October 2017, dubbed Creep City. He made his first appearance in a Broadway titled Kinky Boots in January 2018. The next month he released his eponymous solo debut album on August 10, 2018.
He toured with Kylie Minogue on her Golden Tour. He also appeared as the “Unicorn” on ITV’s The Masked Singer in January 2020 and finished in 6th place. In February 2020, he released the single Meltdown.
