Cynthia Weil was a legendary songwriter who wrote many songs. Cynthia Weil passed away at the age of 82 on June 1, 2023, according to her daughter.

Cynthia’s daughter called her mum her “best friend” and “partner in crime” in an emotional statement announcing her death.
Her daughter Dr Mann said: “My mother, Cynthia Weil, was the greatest mother, grandmother and wife our family could ever ask for. “She was my best friend, confidant, and my partner in crime and an idol and trailblazer for women in music.”
The family added that Cynthia’s Grammy award-winning lyrics “touched the hearts and souls of hundreds of millions of people around the world”. Adding that she was one of the “most iconic songwriters of the 20th Century”. No cause of death has been given.

Cynthia began her training as an actress and dancer before discovering her passion for songwriting. According to the Songwriters Hall of Fame, she was a protegee of Tin Pan Alley songwriter Frank Loesser before being signed to Aldon Music, which marked the beginning of a long and successful career.
Weil was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1987 after a string of hits, and she later joined her husband Barry Mann in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2010.
