ABC News executive, George Watson’s cause of death is not known yet. His death was announced by the network’s spokesperson, and according to them, they died on June 1, 2023, at age 86.

“George Watson died today at 86. At ABC News, he was a White House Correspondent, bureau chief in Washington & Moscow, a VP, and a mentor to me and others. A great, funny, smart, classy guy, and a good boss who had your back. RIP,” Josh Mankiewicz wrote.

He served as a Washington Bureau chief, and White House correspondent for 12 years. He also served as a correspondent and bureau chief in Moscow and London. He covered some of the heaviest fighting in Vietnam and Cambodia in 1968 and 1970.
Watson also developed and produced Viewpoint, a program designed to provide a forum for viewer criticism of ABC News in particular and broadcast journalism in general. During his time, Viewpoint won an Emmy, a Peabody, and the DuPont-Columbia Award for Excellence in Broadcast Journalism.
