George Watson Obituary

ABC News executive, George Watson has been reported dead. He died on Thursday, June 1, 2023, at age 86. No cause of death was announced.

Tributes have been pouring in from several people after his death was announced.

“George Watson died today at 86. At ABC News, he was a White House Correspondent, bureau chief in Washington & Moscow, a VP, and a mentor to me and others. A great, funny, smart, classy guy, and a good boss who had your back. RIP,” Josh Mankiewicz wrote.

“He was a mensch. I was terrified of going to NYC for m ABC job interview but George Watson immediately put me at ease. RIP to a fine news executive,” Chris Bury.

“An absolute legend who never hesitated to get into the thick of whatever it was he tackled. I become good friends with a professor who had known George Watson from Columbia University. Rest in peace and Godspeed, Sir,” Ramsey Simon wrote.
