Prior to the September 11 attacks, the bombing was the deadliest act of terrorism in the United States. It is still the deadliest act of domestic terrorism in American history.

This devastating act of domestic terrorism took place when a truck loaded with explosives was detonated outside the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Timothy McVeigh, the perpetrator of the Oklahoma City bombing on April 19, 1995, was sentenced to death for his crimes. After his conviction, he spent approximately six years on death row before his execution.

McVeigh was motivated by a variety of factors, including his anger towards the federal government’s handling of incidents such as the Ruby Ridge standoff in 1992 and the Waco siege in 1993. He believed these events represented government encroachment on individual liberties and saw himself as a patriot taking a stand against perceived tyranny.
