The events leading to Vybz Kartel’s imprisonment began in 2011 when a man named Clive “Lizard” Williams went missing. According to witness testimonies, Williams was allegedly beaten to death at Kartel’s residence in August 2011 over a missing firearm. The police later discovered burned remains believed to be Williams’ body in a wooded area of St. Catherine, Jamaica.

During the investigation, Vybz Kartel and several others were arrested and charged with murder, conspiracy to murder, and illegal possession of a firearm. The case was built on witness statements, phone records, and other evidence, including text messages and voice recordings, allegedly linking Kartel and his co-defendants to the crime.
