Her mother Gladys Shane Baugh was a secretary Gladys Shane and her father Dennis Cattrall was a construction engineer. She had a brother named Christopher, who passed away in 2018.
Her family immigrated to Canada when she was three months old and settled in Courtenay, British Columbia. When her grandmother became ill at the age of 11, she returned to Liverpool.
She studied acting at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art but after a year, she returned to Canada and moved to New York City at the age of 16 for her first acting role.
Kim’s mother passed away at the age of 92 in 2022 and she lost her father to Alzheimer’s disease.

Cattrall’s breakthrough role came in the 1980s with her portrayal of Samantha Jones in the hit HBO series “Sex and the City.” Cattrall’s performance in the show garnered her numerous award nominations, including five Emmy Award nominations and four Golden Globe nominations.
