Jamie Benn is a Canadian professional ice hockey winger and captain of the National Hockey League (NHL) Dallas Stars. Jamie Benn is the son of  Randy Benn and Heather Benn.

Randy Benn, his father, was an elite softball player who helped Canada win gold medals at the 1976 World Championships and the 1979 Pan Am Games, and he raised his sons Jordie and Jamie on a diet of old-school baseball.

Benn is the younger brother of Toronto Maple Leaf’s defenseman Jordie Benn, and the brothers previously played together on the Dallas Stars.

Jamie  Benn was selected 129th overall by the Dallas Stars in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft. His junior hockey career was spent with the Kelowna Rockets of the Western Hockey League (WHL). He competed for Canada in the 2009 World Junior Ice Hockey Championships, where he helped the country win a gold medal.

He won a gold medal with Team Canada at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia. With 87 points in the 2014-15 NHL season, Benn won the Art Ross Trophy as the league’s leading scorer. Under his leadership, the Stars advanced to the Stanley Cup Final in 2020.

Jamie Benn played his 1,000th NHL game on February 6, 2023, becoming only the second player from the Stars organisation to do so after Mike Modano.
