Reality Leigh Winner is a former enlisted United States Air Force member and NSA translator from the United States.

She is the daughter of Billie and Ronald Winner. Her father chose her unique name. She grew up in Kingsville and went to H. M. King High School, where she studied Latin in school, Arabic in her spare time, and played on the football and tennis teams.
Reality Winner’s worldview on many topics, including politics, history, philosophy, and religion, had been heavily influenced by her father’s influence early in her life. The winner had intense discussions with her father about geopolitics and Islam after the September 11 attacks, and he sparked her interest in the Arabic language.

From 2010 to 2016, Winner served in the United States Air Force, rising to the rank of senior airman (E-4 pay grade) with the 94th Intelligence Squadron.
After leaking an intelligence report about Russian interference in the 2016 US elections, she received the longest prison sentence ever imposed for the unauthorised release of government information to the media in 2018. She received a five-year, three-month sentence in federal prison.
