Alexander W. Dreyfoos Jr children: Does Alexander W. Dreyfoos Jr have kids? – Alexander W. Dreyfoos Jr, a late American businessman, and philanthropist had two children: Catherine Dreyfoos Carter and Robert Dreyfoos with his wife Renate.

Dreyfoos’ daughter, Cathy, is a widow with two adult children who live in Tampa.

His son, Robert, on the other hand, is a Microsoft Lead Program Manager who is married and lives in Seattle.

Robert has two sons who have earned BA degrees in mechanical engineering, one from Gonzaga University and the other from MIT.

Their father is most known for co-founding the Photo Electronics Corporation (PEC) in 1963 with George W. Mergens to address challenges with color print reproduction.

Dreyfoos and Mergens invented the revolutionary Video Color Negative Analyzer (VCNA) in Dreyfoos’ basement in Port Chester, New York, and later set up shop in a decommissioned church in Connecticut. Eastman Kodak Corporation made the VCNA available worldwide.

Dreyfoos was a philanthropist who was well-known for his large donations to schools.

In 1997, he made the largest donation to a public school in Florida history, giving $1,000,000 to Palm Beach County School of the Arts, which was renamed Alexander W. Dreyfoos School of the Arts.

Dreyfoos made a $1 million donation to Scripps Florida on the John D. MacArthur Campus of Florida Atlantic University in Jupiter, Florida, in 2004.

Dreyfoos’ largest gift was $15 million to MIT for the Stata Center, which includes two buildings named after him and William Gates. This gift was made in memory of Dreyfoos’ late mentor and MIT physics professor, Arthur C. Hardy.

Dreyfoos had ten US patents and several foreign patents covering his inventions at the time of his death.
