Edward James Olmos Parents: Who are Pedro Olmos and Eleanor Huizar?

Pedro Olmos and Eleanor Huizar were the parents of American actor, Edward James Olmos. Pedro was a welder and mail carrier who was a Mexican immigrant. His mother, Eleanor was also an American of Mexican descent.

Edward James Olmos appeared in several movies and tv shows including Zoot Suit, Wolfen, Blade Runner, The Ballad of Gregorio Cortez, and more. He was cast in the 1980 post-apocalyptic science fiction film Virus. His role required him to play the piano while singing a Spanish ballad during the later part of the film. It was the most expensive Japanese film at that time, even though it was not so successful at the box office.

He is the first American-born Hispanic to receive an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor, which was a result of his role as Jaime Escalante in Stand and Deliver.

Olmos got his biggest role when he was cast as the police Lieutenant Martin Castillo in the popular tv series Miami Vice. He went on to win a Golden Globe and an Emmy Award in 1985 for his role.
