Darren dialled 999 after he downed a cocktail of tablets, but when officers attended his home in Wrexham, North Wales, he told cops repeatedly that he had changed his mind and wanted to live.

As the cop dialled for an ambulance, Darren’s condition began to deteriorate and his arms dropped to the ground. The officer began chest compression to try to save him and a woman colleague used a face mask from a first aid bag to breathe air into him until an ambulance arrived.

Pathologist, Dr Andrew Dalton found Darren had taken a huge overdose. Coroner John Gittins ruled the man died from an accident and dismissed any suggestion of suicide.
