Eric Lewis (ELEW) AGT, Ted Talk, Instagram, Tour – Eric Lewis (ELEW) was born on May 13, 1973, and is known for his unconventional and physical playing style, which includes reaching inside the piano lid to pull at the strings directly, as well as his creation of “Rockjazz,” a genre that “threads the improvisational aspect of jazz through the eye of the needle of rock.”

ELEW’s inventiveness has earned him a slew of celebrity fans, including Barack and Michelle Obama (for whom he has performed at the White House), Leonardo DiCaprio, Donna Karan, Téa Leoni, David Duchovny, Hugh Jackman, Forest Whitaker, and Gerard Butler.
In March 2010, he published his debut album of instrumental covers, ELEW Rockjazz Vol. 1, under his own label, Ninjazz Entertainment.
He appeared on a Mike Stud remix of Maroon 5’s “One More Night” in August 2012. Lewis released his second solo album, ELEW Rockjazz Vol. 2, on August 28, 2012.
In late 2015, ELEW performed a preview concert for his upcoming album And To The Republic at Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola alongside Jeff “Tain” Watts and Reginald Veal.
In the summer of 2016, ELEW was awarded The Novus Award at the Headquarters of the United Nations for contributing music and art to the world.
ELEW has previously shared the stage with Sting, The Roots, Natalie Cole, and Esperanza Spalding.

ELEW opened for singer-songwriter Josh Groban on the American leg of his Straight to You Tour in the spring of 2011.
At about the same time, he auditioned for the NBC reality show America’s Got Talent, where he received a standing ovation from the audience and positive ratings from all three judges.
ELEW pulled out of the competition despite the positive response in order to tour with Groban.
