Micky Jagtiani siblings: Meet Mahesh Jagtiani – Mahesh Jagtiani was the elder brother of Landmark Group founder and Indian billionaire businessman Micky Jagtiani.

Mahesh and Micky were raised in an average-class family in Kuwait, and according to Forbes, things grew worse when Micky joined the family in the Persian Gulf in 1972.

His elder brother, Mahesh, was stricken with leukemia and died within months. His diabetic father died soon after, and he lost his mother to cancer the following year (1973).

Micky considered returning to India but changed his mind. Instead, he took over the retail space that Mahesh had hired before becoming ill in Bahrain.

With $6,000—the entire sum left to him by his family, Micky bought baby merchandise to sell to families, particularly expatriates.

Starting modestly, Micky focused largely on the thousands of Asian immigrants, mostly Indians and Pakistanis, who were moving to the Gulf for better jobs, often as clerical and technical workers with the national oil companies.

After ten years of working in the shop, Micky began to grow by adding six new locations.

After the Gulf War broke out, he relocated to Dubai and created the Landmark Group.

The Landmark Group has expanded into fashion, electronics, furniture, and cheap hotels in the Middle East and Southeast Asia over the years.

It presently employs over 45,000 people and has over 1000 outlets in the Persian Gulf region, the Middle East, and India.

Micky may not have become a billionaire if his late brother had not died.

Micky died on May 26, 2023, at the age of 70.
