Emerson Allsworth wife: Who is Shirley McDowell? – Shirley McDowell was the wife of Emerson Lincoln Allsworth, a Florida politician and lawyer who served in the Florida House of Representatives from 1959 to 1966, representing Broward County.

After graduating from law school, he met Shirley in Fort Lauderdale in 1952.

They got married the same year (thus 1952)

They had been blissfully married for more than six decades until her death in 2015.

Emerson Scott Allsworth, John Allsworth, Terrance Allsworth, and Mark Allsworth were the couple’s four sons.

Allsworth attended Miami Senior High School, the University of Miami, and the University of Miami School of Law.

Allsworth worked as a lawyer in Fort Lauderdale for nearly seventy years and never retired.

Over the years, he has assisted a wide range of clients, from huge enterprises to the underprivileged.

Allsworth was the state’s youngest prosecutor at the time, at 28 years old and only two (2) years out of law school.

He served in the Florida Legislature for eight (8) years, having been elected to the House of Representatives from Broward County from 1958 to 1966.

He was chosen by Governor Haydon Burns to serve on the Florida Constitution Revision Commission in 1967.

He was also a member of the University of Miami Board of Trustees for fifteen (15) years.

Allsworth died in Pompano Beach, Florida on May 24, 2023, at the age of 96, 6 years after the death of his beloved wife.
