He was sentenced after being convicted of seditious conspiracy to “overthrow, put down to destroy by force” the US government. He ridiculously claims that he is a political prisoner, just like former present Donald Trump.

Rhodes is the first of those charged with that offense in connection with the riots to be sentenced. The sentence is the longest that has been handed down so far in the hundreds of Capitol riot cases.

There were messages, recordings, and other evidence presented at his trial showing that he and his followers grew increasingly enraged after the 2020 election at the prospect of a Biden presidency, which they viewed as a threat to the country.

Rhodes reportedly told his followers to prepare their minds, bodies, and spirits for a civil war, according to an encrypted chat sent two days after the general elections.

Rhodes was disbarred by the Montana Supreme Court on December 8, 2015, for conduct violating the Montana Rules of Professional Conduct – after refusing to respond to two bar grievances filed against him in the federal district court of Arizona.
