Tonya Lewis Lee is an author and entrepreneur who is married to American filmmaker and actor Spike Lee. The couple met in 1992, and they were married a year later in New York. They have two children.

Tonya Lewis Lee has been involved in children’s media since founding her production company, Madstone Company Inc., in 1998.

Tonya Lewis Lee is the author of three children’s books, Please Baby Please, Please Puppy Please, and Giant Steps to Change the World. She is also the co-author of the New York Times bestselling Gotham Diaries and the writer of the script “The Watsons Go to Birmingham.”

From 2007 to 2013, Lewis Lee was the spokesperson for A Healthy Baby Begins With You, an infant mortality awareness-raising campaign run by the United States Department of Health and Human Services Office of Minority Health.

Throughout the campaign, she travelled the United States, speaking on women’s health issues for the sake of their unborn children. She also produced the documentary film Crisis in the Crib: Saving Our Nation’s Babies.

Her involvement with this campaign inspired her to launch Healthy You Now, a women’s health web platform. She founded Movita, an organic vitamin company that sells via e-commerce, in 2015.
