Retired English actor Daniel Day-Lewis has won three Academy Awards for Best Actor, making him one of the most decorated actors in Oscar history. He received his first Academy Award in 1990 for his role as Christy Brown in “My Left Foot.” Day-Lewis delivered a transformative and highly acclaimed performance portraying the Irish writer and painter who had cerebral palsy.

His second Academy Award win came in 2008 for his portrayal of Daniel Plainview in “There Will Be Blood.” Day-Lewis mesmerized audiences with his portrayal of the ambitious and morally complex oil prospector during the early 20th century.

Finally, in 2013, Day-Lewis won his third Academy Award for his portrayal of Abraham Lincoln in Steven Spielberg’s biographical drama “Lincoln.” His immersive and captivating performance showcased his ability to bring historical figures to life on the screen.
Aside from his Oscar wins, he has won four BAFTA Awards, three Screen Actors Guild Awards and two Golden Globe Awards. In 2014, Day-Lewis received a knighthood for services to drama.
