After being pulled from the River Derwent early on Saturday morning, the former BBC radio host passed away.
At Darley Abbey Mills, 87-year-old Michael Carey was pulled from the river and taken to the hospital, where he later passed away, according to Derbyshire Constabulary.

Mr. Carey, a local resident, aired Memorable Melodies on BBC Radio Derby for nearly 20 years before resigning in 2019. Police are looking into how he may have ended up in the river.
