Xu Xin is known for his stroke variety and rapid forehand loops, and he frequently moves deep into his backhand corner to deliver powerful shots. With his spinny and deceptive serves and superb footwork, he sets up these attacks.

He is noted for entertaining the crowd with his surprising and occasionally unusual shots, earning him the moniker “show man.” He does, however, recognize the need to improve his shot selection as he matures and assumes larger responsibility.

He has also been dubbed “XUperman” because to his superhuman abilities, a moniker popularized by ITTF pundit Adam Bobrow.

After winning the ITTF World Tour Grand Finals in December 2012, Xu Xin ascended to the top of the World Rankings in January 2013.

In January 2014, he successfully defended his championship by defeating Ma Long in the finals of the 2013 ITTF World Tour Grand Finals.
