French film director, Romain Gavras is not Greek per se, however, he was born to a Greek father, film director, Costa Gavras, who lived most of his adult life in France.

Romain Gavras is a French national born in Paris, France, but his father Costa was born in Iraia, Greece.

Born on July 4, 1981, Romain Gavras began his career in 1995 when he co-founded the film collective Kourtrajme with Kim Chapiron and Toumani Sangare.

He produced and directed his debut film in 2001, a short film titled The Funk Hunt. In 2002, he directed two other short films, La Barbichette and Easy Pizza Riderz.
Gavras took a short break from movie directing for a couple of years and returned in 2008. However, he directed a few music videos during that period. Some of them include Changer le Monde (2002) by Roce, Repaint the Picture (2002) by Don Martin, Pour Ceux (2003) by Mafia K1, Y’en a des biens (2004) by Didier Super, Trankeliment by Fatal Bazooka, I Believe by Simian Mobile Disco, Signature by DJ Mehdi, all in 2007.
