While he has excelled as a central midfielder, left midfielder, and left-back, Milner has also demonstrated his versatility by playing as a right-back, right midfielder, and even as an emergency center-forward when needed. Additionally, during his time at Manchester City, he was occasionally shifted to center-back during matches.

However, the one position that Milner has not ventured into is that of a goalkeeper. Despite his ability to excel in different areas of the pitch, he has not been called upon to fill the gloves and play as a shot-stopper.
