Hank Green graduated with a B.S. in biochemistry from Eckerd College and an M.S. in environmental studies from the University of Montana in 2002. His master’s thesis was entitled “Of Both Worlds: How the Personal Computer and the Environmental Movement Change Everything

Hank Green founded “EcoGeek” while in graduate school, a blog focusing on technological advancements that benefit the environment. EcoGeek began as a class project and has since grown into a major environmental publication.

Time magazine described EcoGeek as “porn for hardcore science, tech, and environmental freaks.” Green has written about environmental issues for a variety of websites, including Treehugger.com, Yahoo! Green, The National Geographic Green Guide, Scientific American, The Weather Channel, Planet Green, NPR and The New York Times.

Green contributed regularly to Mental Floss and co-wrote one of their books, Mental Floss: Scatterbrained, in the mid-2000s.

One of Hank Green’s notable achievements is his co-founding of the YouTube channel “Vlogbrothers” alongside his brother, John Green. The channel, which was established in 2007, quickly gained a substantial following, and it became a platform for the two brothers to communicate with each other and their viewers through video blogs.
