Jean-Louis Pesch Death: How did Jean-Louis Pesch die?

French comic author, Jean-Louis Pesch has been reported dead. No cause of death was disclosed. He died on Wednesday, May 17, 2023. He was 94.

When he was 14, he passed the entrance exam to the School of Applied Arts in Paris, however, due to the war, he had to return home and work on the farm. He joined the Navy in 1954 and worked there for three years.

Pesch returned from the Navy and started working in a cartoon studio. In 1950, he founded an advertising studio where he created a good number of characters that he animated in comics on blotters, calendars, house-organs, stands, and more.

Born on June 29, 1928, Jean-Louis Pesch grew up with cartoonist parents who made him develop love for the art when he was just 4 years old. His parents bought the 1934 Le Journal de Mickey and other other albums for him when he was still very young.

He entered the children’s press at the Capucine newspaper and worked for several newspaper companies including Mireille, L’Intrepide, Bernadette, Coeurs Vaillants, Ames Vaillantes, Fripounet and Marisette, The Pilgrim, The Journal of Tintin, and more.

Since 1956,  Pesch had drawn more than 4800 pages with Sylvian and Sylvette (Sylvain et Sylvette) and sold more than 20 million albums. The series ended in 2022, making 67 albums in total.
