Ghanaian highlife legend, Akwaboah Sr has been announced dead. His death was reported by his son, Kwabena Akwaboah Jr, who is also a renowned singer and songwriter.

In a social media post Jr. made, he wrote, “RIP Daddy.”
According to a close source, the musician had been battling an undisclosed sickness that got him hospitalized for quite a long time. The source also announced that he died at the Okomfo Anokye Hospital, Kumasi, Ghana, in the early hours of Tuesday, May 16, 2023.

His age at the time of death is not known yet, however, some sources claim that he was either in his late 60s or early 70s.
Akwaboah Sr was known for producing and singing several songs before the 2000s. Some of these songs include Awerekyekyere, Hini Me, and more. He was also a talented keyboardist who was known for producing several songs both locally and internationally.
Tributes have been pouring in across social media platforms after his death was announced.
