What movies did Gillian Anderson play in?

American-British actress, Gillian Anderson has played several roles in numerous movies and tv shows in her career. Some of these include; The X-Files, The Fall, Sex Education, The Crown, The Pale Blue Eye, Hannibal, Johnny English Reborn, The Great, Great Expectations, The Spy Who Dumped Me, The First Lady, and more.

She started her career in the ’90s when she starred in Alan Ayckbourn’s play Absent Friends. She won the Theatre World Award for ‘Best Newcomer’ for her outstanding performance. She went on to star in another theatre drama The Philanthropist.

In 1992, Anderson moved to Los Angeles and got featured in the film The Turning, which took her one year to audition. She debuted the mainstream television in ’93 when she appeared as a guest star in Class of ’96. She was cast as the lead role on the show The X-files at just 24 years old.

She bagged several awards due to her incredible performance on the show. Some of these awards include; Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series, Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Television Drama Series, Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series, and Saturn Award for Best Actress on Television. She is the first actress to win an Emmy, a Golden Globe, and SAG Award in the same year.

She also starred in several movies and tv shows in the ’90s, including The Simpsons, Chicago Cab, Playing By Heart, The Mighty, Princess Mononoke, The Vagina Monologues, and more.

From 2000 to 2009, Anderson gathered numerous film credits including The House of Mirth, Bleak House, The Mighty Celt, A Cock and Bull Story, The Last King of Scotland, Straightheads, A Doll’s Head, and more.

Some of her other movies and tv shows after that decade also include Any Human Heart, Moby Dick, Johnny English Return, Sex Education, and more.

Anderson launched her first studio show in February 2o22, titled What Do I Know? on Curio. In 2023, she announced her The Dear Gillian Project where she asked for women to write letters to her personally about sexual fantasies and stories that she will turn into a book.
