Meera Syal is a British actress, comedian, writer, and singer. Meera Syal is the mother of two children, Milli Bhatia, Chameli Bhatia and Shaan.

Her son Shaan was born at the Portland Hospital on 2 December 2005. Meera has said: “When I got pregnant at 44, I felt so grateful but also guilty over my good luck.”
Chameli Bhatia attended the University of East Anglia where she received a drama degree. Meera Syal’s oldest daughter Milli is an East London-based theatre, film, and radio director and dramaturg. She currently works as an Associate Director at The Royal Court Theatre.
Milli Bhatia previously worked as a Trainee Director and Literary Associate at The Royal Court, as an Associate Artist at The Bush Theatre, as a Resident Assistant Director at Birmingham Rep, and as a Creative Associate at The Gate Theatre. Her formal education includes The National Theatre Director’s Programme and The Old Vic 12.

Her production of Seven Methods of Killing Kylie Jenner received an Olivier Award nomination for outstanding achievement in an affiliate theatre, and she was recently chosen to be photographed by Rankin for his ‘Performance’ series.
MillI’s upcoming work in 2023 includes the US tour of seven methods of killing Kylie Jenner (Royal Court/Public Theatre NY/Woolly Mammoth DC/Broadstage LA), the Swedish national tour (Riksteatern), and Baghdaddy by Jasmine Naziha Jones (Royal Court). She is working on projects with Soho Theatre, The Royal Court, and The Almeida.
