What happened to Enrico Oldoini?

Enrico Oldoini, director of Don Matteo and Yuppies 2 has been reported dead by close sources. He died after a long battle with Lou Gehrig’s disease also known as ASL at the age of 77. His death occurred on May 10, 2023.

He was a director and screenwriter who started his career in the early 60s when he moved to Rome to pursue an acting career. However, he fell in love with writing and wrote his debut movie in 1976 dubbed And A Lot of Fear.

In 1978, he also wrote Just the Way You Are which was interpreted by Marcello Mastroianni and Nastassja Kinski. He worked with numerous directors on many films including The Ragassa’s Body, Quick Hand, or Give Me Your Hand. 

Oldino had an outstanding career in television when he released his debut tv series God Sees and Provides which was released in 2000.  He is best known for creating one of the best Italian comedy characters called Don Matteo. The protagonist of the series is Lino Banfi.
