Van der Sloot met Natalee Holloway on May 29, 2005, at Carlos’ ‘n Charlie’s bar in downtown Oranjestad, Aruba, where they drank and danced together.

Holloway was last seen leaving the bar at 1:00 a.m. in a car with Van der Sloot and two brothers, Deepak Kalpoe, 21, and Satish Kalpoe, 18.

Van der Sloot and both Kalpoe brothers were arrested on June 9, 2005, in connection with the disappearance of Natalee Holloway.

On July 4, the Kalpoe brothers were released, while Van der Sloot remained in jail.

On August 26, the Kalpoe brothers were detained again on accusations of rape and murder.

Due to a lack of evidence, all three suspects were released on September 3rd.

Van van Sloot is currently serving a 28-year prison sentence in Peru for bludgeoning another woman to death, Stephany Flores Ramrez, exactly five years after Holloway went missing.

Holloway’s disappearance remains unsolved.
