Salma Hayek became a first-time parent at the age of 41 when she welcomed her daughter, Valentina Paloma Pinault. She recalled a trip with UNICEF about a decade ago to Sierra Leone where she breastfed another woman’s newborn son.

Salma Hayek stated her decision to breastfeed another woman’s child was an attempt to diminish the stigma placed on women for breastfeeding. Hayek achieved commercial success with the comedies Grown Ups (2010), Grown Ups 2 (2013), and The Hitman’s Bodyguard (2017).

Salma Hayek’s portrayal of painter Frida Kahlo in the biographical film Frida (2002) made her the first Mexican actress to be nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actress.
