Dana Bash Parents: Meet Stu Schwartz, Frances Weinman Schwartz

Dana Ruth Bash is a CNN journalist, news anchor, Inside Politics host, and co-anchor of State of the Union.

Dana Bash is the daughter of Stu Schwartz and Frances Weinman Schwartz. Her mother, Frances Schwartz is a Jewish studies author and educator.

Her father, Stuart Schwartz is an ABC News producer who served as the senior broadcast producer for Good Morning America.

Bash’s maternal grandmother, Teri Vidor Weinman, and her family were Hungarian Jews. Weinman escaped to the United States with her husband in October 1941, but her parents and sister were murdered at Auschwitz concentration camp after Hungary’s occupation in 1944.

Dana Bash was raised in Washington, D.C. and New Jersey. Bash attended Montvale, New Jersey’s Pascack Hills High School. She graduated from George Washington University with a bachelor’s degree in political communications.

She interned at NBC, CBS, and CNN while in college. Bash received an honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters from Franklin Pierce University in Rindge, New Hampshire on May 12, 2018.
