Robert De Niro First Wife: Meet Diahnne Abbott

Diahnne Abbott is the first wife of Robert De Niro a legendary American actor, producer, and director.

The former couple were married from 1976 to 1988. Raphael, their son, was named after the Rome hotel where he was conceived.  Drena, Abbott’s daughter from a previous marriage, was adopted by De Niro.

Drena has appeared in several of her father’s films, including Showtime (2002), Wag the Dog (1997), City by the Sea (2002) and The Intern (2015). Their son Raphael is a former actor who works in New York real estate.

Diahnne Abbott is a singer and actress. She appeared in a number of films in the 1970s and 1980s, including Taxi Driver (1976).

In Martin Scorsese’s Taxi Driver (1976), Abbott played a pornographic movie theatre concession clerk opposite Robert De Niro.

She also played De Niro’s love interest in Scorsese’s 1983 film The King of Comedy, as well as roles in the television series Crime Story (as Sonia) and the 1986 film Jo Jo Dancer, Your Life Is Calling (as Mother).
