He was selected by the Chicago Blackhawks in the first round of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft and is regarded as one of the best National Hockey League (NHL) prospects.
Beach, however, only spent time with American Hockey League (AHL) minor league clubs from 2008 until 2014.
He never played in the NHL. In 2021, Beach filed a lawsuit against the Blackhawks for failing to act after alleging that a coach had sexually harassed him during their Stanley Cup championship season in 2010.

While playing for the Everett Silvertips, his aggressive style of play resulted in repeated concussions and a sports hernia.
Beach was anticipated to go in the top five picks in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft after winning the WHL Rookie of the Year award in 2006–07.
