Joe Kapp was an American football player, coach, and executive. Joe Kapp played in one Super Bowl during his NFL career.

He was the starting quarterback for the Minnesota Vikings in Super Bowl IV on January 11, 1970, which was played in New Orleans, Louisiana.
The Vikings lost the game to the Kansas City Chiefs by a score of 23-7. Despite the loss, Kapp’s performance was notable, as he completed 16 of 25 passes for 183 yards, including a 12-yard touchdown pass to running back Dave Osborn in the fourth quarter.
Joe Kapp died at the age of 85 on May 8th, 2023. Joe Kapp was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease in February 2016, according to the San Jose Mercury News.

Joe Kapp is a member of the Canadian Football Hall of Fame, the British Columbia Sports Hall of Fame, the Wall of Fame of the BC Lions, the College Football Hall of Fame, and the University of California Athletic Hall of Fame.
Kapp was named to the Honour Roll of the CFL’s top 50 players of the modern era by Canadian sports network TSN in November 2006.
Sports Illustrated once referred to him as “The Toughest Chicano.” Kapp is the only quarterback to have appeared in the Super Bowl, Rose Bowl, and Grey Cup.
