According to the artist, he made a living by selling tickets and food (during parties).
Oxlade ran away from home to pursue a music career and was forced to sell bus tickets—a job common among motor park touts known colloquially as “agbero.”
During an interview, Oxlade revealed that he had to flee his family since his father, a university lecturer, would not support his ambition to become a musician.
Oxlade said:
“Honestly, he [my dad] was indifferent at first. But my stubbornness and consistency paid off [laughs].
“I ran away from the house at some point in my life to pursue music personally. And I had to do all sorts of stuff to survive. Selling bus tickets and selling foods at parties.”
Oxlade advised the youth against giving up on their dreams.
