Colares’ coach, Rodrigo Babi, told Brazilian news site Combate that Colares was returning home from training when he was hit in Rio’s Guaratiba district. First responders treated Colares, but he died en route to nearby Hospital Rocha Faria in Campo.

Felipe Colares is survived by his wife Jaqueline and their infant son Rhavi.
