Rob Laakso, an American musician, record producer, and engineer best known as Kurt Vile’s recording partner and multi-instrumentalist in The Violators, had two children with his wife Sarah. However, there is insufficient information about his children on the internet.

Laakso died on May 5, 2023, after a battle with Cholangiocarcinoma, an aggressive cancer.
In a statement, his wife announced his death:
“I am absolutely shattered to share with you that our beloved Rob passed away quickly and peacefully yesterday afternoon. After praying for a miracle every day since he was diagnosed my prayers recently changed to a peaceful home departure surrounded by love. I realize now every day we had together was a miracle.”

In 2013, Laakso replaced Adam Granduciel as a full-time member of The Violators. He worked on the majority of Vile’s albums, including Wakin on a Pretty Daze in 2013, b’lieve I’m goin down… in 2015, and Bottle It In in 2018.
He recently collaborated with Vile on his 2022 album Watch My Moves.
Laakso was also a multi-instrumentalist who had previously performed with the shoegaze band Swirlies, among others.
