French singer, musician, and actor Sacha Distel was well-known for his numerous hit songs.

Sacha Distel enrolled at and completed his studies at the City School of Claude Bernard. His relatives were talented musicians and fans. He began playing in the group bebop. Later on, he developed into a proficient jazz guitarist.

Distel was the son of French-Jewish pianist Andrée Ventura (1902–1965), who was born in Constantinople, and Léonide Distel, a Russian–French immigrant who was born in Odessa (then part of the Russian Empire). Ray Ventura, the band’s leader, was his uncle. Distel gave up playing the piano and shifted to playing the guitar after Ventura arrived in Paris with his band, Les Collégiens.
