Linda Lewis was an English vocalist, songwriter, and guitarist. Linda Lewi died, peacefully at home, on 3 May 2023, at the age of 72.

Her family confirmed her death on Wednesday night, with her sister Dee Lewis Clay sharing the news on social media.
“It is with the greatest sadness and regret we share the news that our beloved beautiful sister Linda Lewis passed away today peacefully at her home,” she wrote. “The family asks that you respect our privacy and allow us to grieve at this heartbreaking time.”

She is best known for her singles “Rock-a-Doodle-Doo” (1973), “Sideway Shuffle” (1973), and “Shoop Shoop Song (It’s in His Kiss)” (1975).

Her solo albums include Lark (1972), Not a Little Girl Anymore (1975), Woman Overboard (1977), and the later Second Nature (1995), which charted in countries such as Japan.
Linda Lewis worked with the UK folk-funk band The Paracosmos in 2023. Lewis provided additional vocals on their single “Earthling.”
The single was released in March 2023 and premiered on Gilles Peterson’s BBC 6 Music show, where he announced, “Linda Lewis is back.” The song would later become her final single released during her lifetime.
