Cat Stevens’ parents were Stavros Georgiou, a Cypriot father, and Ingrid Wickman, a Swedish mother. They were restaurateurs who ran the Moulin Rouge restaurant and lived above it.

Cat Stevens is a British singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist with a distinct musical style consisting of folk, pop, rock, and, later in his career, Islamic music.

Cat Stevens’ 1967 debut album and its title song “Matthew and Son” both reached the top ten in the UK charts.

In December 2006, Cat Stevens’ was one of the artists who performed at the Nobel Peace Prize Concert in Oslo, Norway, in honor of the prize winners, Muhammad Yunus and Grameen Bank.

Cat Stevens earned ASCAP songwriting awards in 2005 and 2006 for “The First Cut Is the Deepest”, which has been a hit for four artists.

In September 2020, Cat Stevens released Tea for the Tillerman 2, a reimagining of his classic album Tea for the Tillerman to celebrate its 50th anniversary.
