Mary Marsha Blackburn, born June 6, 1952 is an American politician and businesswoman serving as the senior United States senator from Tennessee, a seat she has held since 2019.
Blackburn was a founding member of the Young Republicans of Williamson County. From 1989 to 1991, she served as the Republican Party’s chair in Williamson County.
Blackburn is a Republican Tea Party member . She has been referred to as a fervent conservative and occasionally attends events hosted by far-right organizations and meets with their leaders.

Chuck Blackburn is Blackburn’s husband. They have two kids and reside in Brentwood, a Nashville suburb in Williamson County. She is a Presbyterian.
Blackburn received a 4-H scholarship to attend Mississippi State University, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in home economics in 1974.
Before graduating in 1973, Blackburn worked for the Times Mirror Company as a sales manager.
She was employed for Mercantile Stores, Inc.’s Castner Knott Division from 1975 to 1978.
