Born on May 3, 1903, Crosby became one of the richest men in the history of show business. He had investments in real estate, mines, oil wells, cattle ranches, race horses, music publishing, baseball teams, and television.
He made a fortune from the Minute Maid Orange Juice Corporation, in which he was a principal stockholder.

Crosby made over 70 feature films and recorded more than 1,600 songs.
He died on October 14, 1977 from a heart attack. He was 74 years.
