According to him, Brace died on Saturday, April 29, 2023, after a short illness.
Edelman announced his death in a lengthy official statement.
“Adam Brace passed away on Saturday at the ludicrously unfair age of 43,” Edelman wrote. “He was my closest collaborator for more than a decade, but more importantly, he was one of my closest friends. I don’t feel ready to acknowledge the magnitude of this loss, I already feel it.”

“Adam directed every one of my solo shows – all three of which were conceived over beers with him on the same street in London – including JUST FOR US. Adam’s laugh was distinctive and deep and my favorite sound. I sought it out again and again,” the statement continued.

His death comes after it was announced that Brace and Edelman would bring the popular show Just For Us to Broadway. It is scheduled to begin previews at Hudson Theatre on Thursday, June 22, 2023, with an opening night set for Monday, June 26, 2023. It will run through Saturday, August 19, 2023.
“He was an Artistic Director at the Soho Theatre in London, and the fingerprints he has left on shows, live and televised, have entertained millions,” Edelman said in the statement.
“His death isn’t just a profound loss to the acts he worked with, his partner Becca, and his loving family, but also audiences who will now be deprived of the precision, joy, and dynamism that he brought out of everyone who was lucky enough to collaborate with him. I am bereft,” the statement ended.
Brace was also known for other plays including Stovepipe, They Drink it in the Congo, Midnight Your Time, One-Woman Show, Literally Who Cares?, Age Is a Feeling, and more.
